Students must have an order from a doctor to take medicine at school. This includes any over the counter medications including cough medicine and cough drops.
Also, all medications must be kept in the clinic. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.
There are several screenings required by the state. Students are screened for distance vision, hearing, height and weight and a condition called acanthosis nigricans- a primary marking on the skin that may signal a condition that could develop into type 2 diabetes. (Call me at 972-522-3106 if you have any questions.)
Children are not screened for everything every year, so if you have a concern regarding the screenings listed, or other health issues, please contact me.
